Shelley
Harrison Rae
started writing as a teenager when she
discovered her notebook would allow her complete freedom of expression.
She studied writing and editing through Simon Fraser University and
Counselling skills through Vancouver Community College. She has
published poetry, short stories, personal essays, magazine and newspaper
articles, and interviews. Life Leaves Stains, selected poems and images was published in
2008.
Shelley presently
works as a WORKSHOP FACILITATOR, SUCCESSFUL GRANT WRITER, REAL ESTATE
MARKETING COPY WRITER, MANUSCRIPT COACH and BOOK EDITOR .
She believes that
every life tells a story and her passion is people and their unique
lifelines. Her experience with WRITING and WORKSHOPS, and the study of
COUNSELLING SKILLS, has taught her how to stimulate creative energy. She
helps people discover themselves through their writing and works with
writers of all levels.
Shelley is Past
President of the North Shore Writer's Assoc., member of the NSWA
Anthology Selection Committee, PRODUCER of Dare to be Heard, an open
mike venue for writers and a Director of the Coast Cultural Alliance.
Shelley won First
Prize North Shore Writers Assoc. Annual Literary Contest (1999) for
poetry, and received two Second Prizes (2000) in both poetry and fiction
and two Second Prizes (2004) in non-fiction and poetry.
She lives with her
husband, Graham Rae in Sechelt,on the beautiful Sunshine Coast of
British Columbia, Canada.
